Koblenz - CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. KGaA (CGM), one of the world's leading e-health providers, has appointed an experienced communications expert as its Global Head of Communications. Dr. Thomas Speckmann will take over corporate communications as of November 1, 2024. The PhD historian, political scientist, and communication specialist is a wanderer between worlds, which is still rare in Germany. He brings extensive experience in both politics and business: At the Federal Ministry of Finance, he was responsible for the strategic communication of Federal Finance Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble. Prior to that, he led the department for speeches, publications, and mandates for two DAX 30 CEOs and served as an advisor on economic, energy, construction, housing, and transport issues, as well as Deputy Head of the Policy Issues Department at the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia. In his new role, he will report to Prof. (apl.) Dr. med. Daniel Gotthardt, CEO of CGM.
“Thomas Speckmann understands both politics and business from the inside. He knows their possibilities and limitations. He has extensive expertise in corporate positioning, financial and leadership communication, especially in the political arena. As an experienced crosser of boundaries at the intersection of business and politics, he will significantly advance our corporate communications and set the course for a successful positioning of CGM both internally and externally,” says Daniel Gotthardt.
After his years with Wolfgang Schäuble, Thomas Speckmann (50) served as a Director at the global consulting firm Brunswick Group, advising German, European, and international companies, among others in the healthcare sector, on issues of strategy, corporate positioning, financial and leadership communication, as well as market communication. Before joining CGM, he was the Head of Corporate Communications, responsible for 85 employees in External and Internal Communications, Marketing & Brand, Public Affairs, Regional Public Relations, and Network Communications of the Westenergie Group - the largest energy service provider and infrastructure provider in Germany, and the largest subsidiary of E.ON SE.
